Product Features

The Mitre Maker is a new Australian designed and made jig to help you cut clean and accurate mitre joints using your table-mounted router.

Using the Mitre Maker is easy! Simply clamp your workpiece to the Mitre Maker, and run the cutting face of the jig along the bearing of a flush trim router bit mounted in your router table. This method requires no tedious calibration or adjustments to get a perfect 45 degree angle every time.

Check out this video which shows the Mitre Maker in action.

The Mitre Maker has the following unique features:

Please see the technical details for product dimensions and maximum workpiece sizes.

The fixed 45 degree cut face

The fixed 45 degree cutting face on the Mitre Maker is acurately machined using CNC (computer numerical control) technology. This combined with an inbuilt fence ensures that any workpiece clamped securely to the Mitre Maker can be cut at precisely 45 degrees, with no calibration required. The table-mounted flush trim router bit produces clean cuts that require no further planing or sanding to get a perfect, seamless mitre joint.

Movable stops for accurate workpiece positioning

The stop arrangement on the Mitre Maker fence ensures accurate positioning of your workpiece for cutting all sides of your frame. A sliding stop located between two positioning stops means that you can switch between cutting the long and short sides of a rectangular frame by moving the sliding stop between the two positioning stops.

You can now cut your frame sides with confidence, knowing you won’t have to measure and mark each one before you cut. Just fit your workpiece against the fixed sliding stop, clamp and cut. It’s that easy!

Cutting interlocking mitre joints

The interlocking mitre kit upgrade allows you to cut interlocking mitres with your Mitre Maker. This type of joint gives you significantly increased gluing area to increase joint strength without resorting to additional reinforcing steps such as dowels or biscuits. The interlocking mitres only require a height adjustment of the router bit when cutting the second half of the mitre joint.

Solid clamping arrangements

The Mitre Maker Starter Pack and Pro Packs both come standard with two custom clamps designed to hold your workpiece down firmly. The clamps can be used in a range of configurations to suit the workpiece being mitred and allow you to clamp nice and close to the cutting face, holding your workpiece firmly and securely where you need it most.

An extendible fence for longer workpieces

The Mitre Maker can take a fence extension to increase the length of the workpiece that your Mitre Maker can cut while still using the positioning stops for accurate setting of frame side lengths. One additional fence extension piece increases the maximum side length to over 900mm, however multiple extension pieces can be used to extend this even further. The extension connector provides a snug fit to your Mitre Maker and the extension is secured with bolts.

A frame length indicator for inside and outside dimensions

Engraved in the top surface of the Mitre Maker are measurement lines spaced at 10mm to help you size your frame side lengths. The measurement lines are angled parallel to the 45 degree cut face and allow you to quickly identify both the inside and outside frame length, regardless of the width of your timber. With your frame piece in place, measurement at the fence indicates the external length of the frame piece. Measurement at the inside corner of your mitre joint indicates the internal length of your frame piece.
